even at home, the learning never stops!

okay. i am officially bored.

it all started last week, when i woke up from siesta with a severe tummy ache. i thought i had just slept too soon after eating, so i shrugged it off and tried to go back to sleep. "tried" is really the word because my trying got me nowhere, and my tummy ache just more severe. to cut a long story short, too many vomit spells and (excuse me for what i am about to type, please don't say "eew", "yuuuck", or "kadiri", because we are all humans and it is but normal - haha!) poo-ing spells later, i find myself in the emergency room of medical city. after rehydrating me with the yuckee Maalox, the pain in my stomach goes away but i am as weak as weak can be. gulay. ganun. so after running some tests, the doctor diagnosed me with some viral infection, from something i ate two to three days ago, that was incubated in my stomach, and that manifested that afternoon. (thinking about some organism incubating in your stomach is sooo disgusting!!) she gave me even more medicines to help me get better. one for my spams, one for my stomach fluids, one antibiotic to kill that darn virus and the Maalox one.. for my ulcer.. three days after, i still feel queasy, but i feel much stronger, so thank you doc!! thank you to all the nurses who attended to me!! (i feel so bad i don't even remember their names. i was too groggy that day to remember details like that! but thank you anyway! you saved my life!)

this type of sickness forced me to stay home for three whole days. home. just home. and i also cannot exert myself too much in a physical way. so just home. and still. for three whole days! which leads us to the point of this blog. i am officially bored.

but being miss positivity of the new millenium, i have decided to look at the brighter side of things and stop and think about the wonderful things i have learned about the world in the three days i have been stuck at home.

1. i learned that totally spies is totally the reincarnation of scooby doo! just more high tech, and more for girls!

really!! it is!! starts with the "crime scene", then focuses on the main characters and how they stumble upon the mystery, then the whole episode feels like a whodunnit of sorts, then they get into a series of fight scenes or chase scenes, then the heroes save the day! you have the geeky prototypes, there's velma and there's sam. you have the kikay prototypes, daphne and clover. and the more sporty prototypes, fred and alex. then the mascot of sorts, scooby, and of course jerry! do you know that you can watch totally spies four times a day? they show two episodes at noon and two more episodes at 3PM! i love it! hahaa.

2. i learned that thinking a lot is a good thing, but thinking too much can be a bad thing.

because i've had so much time doing nothing, of course all kinds of thoughts go into my head!! and sometimes, thinking too much about something is not a good thing at all!! a lot of times in our life, over-assessing something will not solve anything. a lot of times in our life, our own mind is our biggest enemy. when we start dwelling on something that we should've just trusted our instinct on, we end up just confusing ourselves for no reason! so lesson of the story is? pag bored, wag nang masyadong mag-iiisip ng kung anu-ano! :p

3. i learned that things can totally change in just one year. what you are going through now can be the total opposite of what you will be going through one year from now.

i am an internet addict as it is, so spending three whole days at home will only mean three whole days on the internet. hahahaa! luckily, nung mga time na yun, forever-invisible-mode-best-friend cheszie's chat window popped up saying "how are you?" we ended up chatting for hours and hours and ended up comparing how different our lives were a year ago, to now. sooo different!! as in!! priorities have changed, outlooks have changed, so much growing up took place, so much moving on took place.. its amazing. it actually gets you half excited and half scared of how different things will be one year from now!

4. i learned it takes around 20 minutes for four cubes of ice to totally melt in a glass of water, and also takes around 20 minutes for a hot cup of milk to turn cold.

i wake up to a hot cup of milk every morning and spend afternoons online with a glass of water beside me. mix that fact with the fact that i am officially bored, and you get that estimated time.

5. i learned five tips to stay financially stable!

i love oprah. i think she's amazing. she really is. so when i was flipping channels and chanced upon suze orman (a best selling author, a favorite guest of larry king and other cnn shows because of her expert personal financial advice) on oprah, of course i just had to watch.. and.. take down notes. hehe. amidst all the worldwide economic problems, it is good to hear these five simple tips that will help all of us stay worry free financially.

(a) make sure you have a safe savings account,

(b) pay off your credit card debt,

c) have health and life insurance,

(d) invest in a retirement plan, and

(e) stop spending more than you can afford. simple! and pretty basic! but things we sort of forget and overlook. i love chancing upon educational episodes of anything on tv. :p

so there. the end. i can write more and more things i learned but i think this post is long enough. i was officially not bored during the time i spent writing this, and now after clicking the publish button, i might be bored again.. but hey, at least i did something productive. thank you for reading and sharing this bored moment with me. :)
